Job Details

Akkodis is seeking a Scale Technician for a Direct Hire OR Contract to Hire with a client in Richmond, VA/ Greensboro, NC. Candidates must have hands-on experience with mechanical systems, basic PLC knowledge, and the ability to lift heavy weights and travel as needed.

Rate Range: $21/hour to 25/hour; (Salary if DH or CTH -- Performance incentive and bonus); The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Scale Technician job responsibilities include:
  • Perform routine calibration and preventative maintenance on industrial scales by inspecting, measuring, and adjusting mechanical and electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns involving motors, valves, pumps, and basic PLC systems to restore functionality.
  • Travel to client sites for service calls, including emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance, with up to 25% travel required.
  • Lift and handle heavy weights (50-100 lbs) during calibration checks, requiring physical strength and endurance.
  • Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to guide repairs and adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.


Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in mechanical or electrical systems preferred.
  • 1-3 years in a hands-on industrial, HVAC, or electrical technician role.
  • Ability to lift heavy weights (50-100 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks during calibration and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs, mechanical troubleshooting, and ability to read schematics; CDL B license and welding experience are a plus.
