Position Overview
The Accounts Director will serve as a key financial leader at Chabez Tech, overseeing all accounting and reporting functions for our retail-focused portfolio. This role requires a balance of technical accounting expertise and strategic business acumen to ensure financial integrity, support growth initiatives, and drive profitability in a fast-evolving retail and data-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who thrives in dynamic, scaling businesses and has deep experience in the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with senior leadership to analyze financial performance, improve forecasting, and identify opportunities for margin and cost optimization.
- Oversee internal controls, policies, and procedures to maintain compliance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with operations, product, and data teams to align financial insights with business strategy.
- Support external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Mentor and develop accounting/finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
- Act as a strategic partner in Chabez Tech’s retail transformation initiatives powered by AI and data solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success in the retail industry (e-commerce, consumer goods, or related).
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Experience in scaling finance operations, preferably in tech-enabled or data-driven businesses.
- ERP and financial systems expertise; comfort with digital tools and automation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Based in the Eastern Time Zone with availability for ET working hours.
