Job Title: Senior Application Technical Specialist / Senior Application Developer

Location: New York Ave, NE, Washington, DC 20002

Position Overview

  • Serve as a Senior Application Developer within DHS OIS ASD Division.
  • Design, develop, enhance, and support Client-Server, Web-Based, Cloud-Based, and Mobile applications.
  • Build and implement new functionality, system enhancements, and production fixes.
  • Partner closely with Business Analysts, QA teams, DHS OIS leadership, and partner agencies.
  • Ensure applications meet security, performance, reliability, and federal IT standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and enhance enterprise applications using .NET, ASP.NET, Visual C#, and SQL Server.
  • Build system enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Work with Business Analysts to understand current and future business processes and translate them into IT solutions.
  • Develop enhanced reporting, dashboards, and analytics capabilities.
  • Perform proactive application monitoring, including audit log tracking and performance analysis.
  • Lead and support system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Ensure applications are secure, defect-free, and compliant with DHS standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to application, reporting, and query developers.
  • Define and document coding standards, development processes, and best practices.
  • Coordinate development activities across teams when required.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to maintain application quality and security.
  • Prepare and maintain:
    • Technical documentation
    • System and process documentation
    • User guides and SOPs
    • ER diagrams and Visio network/design diagrams
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools, technologies, and platforms.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications and technologies.
  • Interact daily with government stakeholders and executive-level users.
  • Support integration with statewide or enterprise-wide systems.
  • Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and critical thinking in resolving complex issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
