Senior Application Programmer
Location: Remote, LA
Duration: 6 Months
Job Description
The Senior Application Programmer will design, develop, test, and support enterprise web applications and associated databases. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, supervisors, and end users. The programmer will contribute to application enhancements, performance tuning, data structure design, and technical decision-making, while also providing knowledge transfer and mentoring to State personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Design, code, compile, test, debug, and document new and existing web applications.
Provide maintenance and support for existing applications and databases.
Research, analyze, and resolve highly technical program, data, or system software issues.
Offer expert-level guidance on specialized application tools, hardware, software, and databases.
Evaluate and recommend technical solutions related to systems operations and management.
Independently define data elements and design database structures; document data elements in dictionary format.
Prepare and monitor work plans and schedules to ensure deadlines, data integrity, and system availability.
Participate in team meetings and design sessions following Scrum ceremonies.
Provide technical knowledge transfer, training, documentation, mentorship, and guidance to State personnel.
Monitor, review, and audit customer-agency replacement software and implement performance improvements.
Mandatory Qualifications
5+ years of experience in web development using a third-generation programming language (3GL).
2+ years of experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
2+ years of experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).
Desirable Qualifications
2+ years of experience in web development using VB .NET and/or Classic ASP.
