We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Backplane Designer to join our team of professionals in our Fremont, CA location. As a Backplane Design Engineer, you will: Design low to medium complexity backplanes based on customer specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with customers, electrical engineers, and designers to define optimal product specifications. Modify PCB layouts and ensure signal integrity in high-speed designs. Support test technicians for RMA-related issues as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Develop PCB designs based on customer input and industry standards (VITA, PICMG).
  • Design custom high-speed backplanes (VME/64X, VXS, VPX, cPCI, ATCA) with DFM principles.
  • Prepare backplane schematics, check plots, and Gerber files while ensuring compliance with Elma's ISO processes.
  • Interface with customers, PCB fabrication shops, and manufacturing/testing personnel.
  • Participate in design reviews and troubleshoot engineering challenges.


What We're Looking For

  • Strong understanding of electronics and signal integrity principles.
  • Proficiency in P-CAD and Altium Designer for PCB design.
  • Extensive experience in backplane/PCB and circuit design.
  • Familiarity with VITA and PICMG standards.
  • Ability to review emerging technologies and educate internal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently & collaboratively.
  • \nBSEE degree with 7+ years of experience in backplane design.

Target Compensation: $125,00 to $140,000
