The Battery Structure Architect is responsible for executing next generation concept development and detailed design of the battery structure. The responsibilities of this role span the entire lifecycle of the battery structure development, from initial concept to launch.

What you'll be able to do:
  • Develop battery structure for future EV vehicle platforms using alternative designs, material systems, and manufacturing processes to achieve best-in-class structural, NVH and crash performance from conceptualization to mass production.
  • Develop and mature 3D geometry of the parametric design of Battery Structures
  • Develop 3D geometry and design concepts that solve challenging problems while balancing construction, material, and manufacturing methods for the entire system.
  • Work with large assemblies to develop concepts for quick CAE analysis and further refine designs for prototyping and production.
  • Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments
  • Innovate, develop, and improve engineering development processes continuously
  • Architect, mature and develop the battery structure architecture from initial product scope and concepts through to design & release of prototype level components and systems that represent future production vehicles
  • Create design solutions and aid in the development of the manufacturing process to ensure part quality and performance are meet.
  • Develop, study, and implement novel structure construction techniques and drive them to production feasibility
  • Participate in design reviews and present design concepts. Make recommendations to improve and refine designs.
  • Work in cross-functional environment to identify and overcome technical challenges and meet requirements
  • Establish, organize, and track physical design validation targets and test cases for new product introduction. Crash, Abuse Testing, Reliability & Durability Testing, Corrosion Testing
  • Innovate, develop, and improve engineering development processes continuously
  • Challenge industry standards (as well as our own) to continually raise the bar


The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's Degree. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience designing one or more of the following: Battery structures, , and Joining parts including component manufacturing and assembly processes
  • 3+ years of experience using 3D CAD software, Proficiency with CATIA V6 (3DX)
  • Experience solving open-ended engineering problems
  • First-principles knowledge of vehicle attributes as it relates to high-voltage battery design, safety, durability
  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of Vehicle Crash and Homologation requirements
  • Ability to plan effectively for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse global team with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have an aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment and deal with multiple tasks at the same time
  • Ability to develop timing plans for complex programs, understanding of financial evaluations and product costing techniques
  • Ability to recognize and manage risk of design with intelligent solutions


Preferred Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T standards
  • Innovative thinker with a passion for sustainability and emerging automotive technologies.
  • High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modelling practices and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
  • A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
