Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Health Benefit Exchange (HBE) division.This position offers the unique opportunity to join Virginia's recently transitioned state-based exchange and will join a growing professional team. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for participating in data analysis efforts for the HBE. This will entail performing complex analysis on data from Virginia's health insurance marketplace to identify, assess, and resolve data discrepancies and to lead the development of reports, data sets, dashboards, and data visualizations. The candidate selected for this position will use data analysis tools to report on key metrics for internal and external stakeholders and present data analysis findings to support decision-making for the division. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate with senior leadership in the HBE to gather and document business requirements for reports and analytics, will interpret data and information from multiple sources, and will recommend system and process improvements. The Senior Data Analyst will also review platform documentation to understand impacts on data creation and usage. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: write SQL queries to extract, load, and manage data in a relational database; improve processes and systems to enhance data integrity; improve the understanding of data and analysis across the HBE division; support reconciliations; integrate data from various systems; maintain and implement business processes; interpret statistical and numerical data to assess the performance of the HBE; and other duties as assigned by the division. This position offers a hybrid work schedule (some in-office and telework days each week) as well as a variety of professional development and training opportunities.
