The Opportunity

We have a great opportunity for a Sr. Design / Product Development Engineer to join our team in Alameda, California

The Sr. Engineer is responsible for being our internal product and technology expert who can work with our internal software architects, developers and product managers to make sure their business requirements are properly mapped to the features and capabilities of our products. You will play a crucial role in our software development process to help our customers define their needs, work with our architects to validate our designs meet those needs, and ensure what we build meets the requirements.

What You'll Work On
  • Work with stakeholders, users and product managers to uncover, understand, and translate business needs on sensor data ecosystem into technical requirements.
  • Develop system design documentation, requirements specification and system architecture. Perform requirements writing, requirements management and analysis. Verify/validate requirements.
  • Integrate analytical and performance related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
  • Design and conduct system level test and evaluation of tool ecosystem with complex data collection and data processing; Collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
  • Analyze unstructured and/or structured biological data from biosensor clinical trials, and evaluate biosensors performance to support product designs. Proactively identifies improvement opportunities for sensor product design and/or manufacturing process.
  • Develop and prioritize user stories, along with success criteria for testing and product acceptance. Develop and maintain feature backlogs.
  • Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams with good negotiating skills to direct multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering or related scientific discipline. Master's or above preferred.
  • 6+ yrs relevant experience and a BS degree, or 4 yrs relevant experience and a MS degree, or equivalent years of education and experience in Engineering and Sciences.
  • Understanding of the electro-mechanical, software, mathematical, chemical or biochemical process operative in diagnostic systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • MATLAB Programing proficiency is required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with biological data analysis and software programming.
  • Medical Device or other regulated field experience preferred.


The base pay for this position is $98,000.00 - $196,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
