The Crew Technology team delivers web and mobile digital solutions for United's largest frontline employee group. The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for leading the creation and implementation of automated pipelines and deployment processes. The role will drive the development and implementation of DevOps practices and strategies, aligning with the company's architectural vision and strategic goals. The Senior DevOps engineer will work collaboratively across multiple teams to manage code releases and deployments. This role is crucial in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of the development and deployment processes by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as Cloud, AI, and APIs.

  • Develop and implement DevOps strategies that align with organizational goals, focusing on automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and operational excellence
  • Establish DevOps principles, standards, and guidelines across development teams, emphasizing best practices in code build, deployment, automated testing, configuration management, and observability
  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and efficient code integration and deployment processes using tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, Harness, and GitHub Actions
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and other repetitive tasks
  • Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software products
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of applications using tools like DataDog and DynaTrace
  • Integrate security best practices into the DevOps processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies
  • Develop and maintain observability practices and DevOps dashboards to track key metrics such as MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery) and change failure rates
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, staying informed about industry trends, tools, and best practices in DevOps

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps or related roles
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing DevOps practices in complex environments
  • Experience with scalable, secure, and reliable application deployments
  • Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation
  • CI/CD Tools: Extensive experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, TeamCity, Harness, and GitHub Actions
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation
  • Containerization: Strong knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as DataDog, DynaTrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk
  • Security: Understanding of security best practices and experience integrating security into DevOps processes
  • Observability: Proficiency in establishing observability practices and developing DevOps dashboards to monitor and improve system performance and reliability
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
