Role Overview
An opportunity for an experienced software engineer to contribute to the development of low-level software and firmware for high-performance networking hardware. The position involves working closely with hardware and silicon teams to design, implement, and optimize embedded systems and driver software for Ethernet components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain driver-level software that interfaces with the physical layer of Ethernet networking systems
- Build embedded applications targeting ARM-based microcontrollers to support hardware functionality at the PHY/PCS layer
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to align software development with hardware design requirements
- Partner with customer-facing engineering teams to introduce new product features and troubleshoot technical issues
- Participate in silicon validation efforts during early hardware bring-up and support both pre- and post-silicon phases
- Focus on robustness, performance, and diagnostics emphasizing rapid identification and resolution of field issues
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded software or driver development, ideally for Ethernet or network switch products
- Expert-level proficiency in C programming
- Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Shell) for development and automation
- Strong knowledge of physical layer protocols and standards, especially IEEE 802.3 (PCS layer)
- Experience working with L2/L3 protocols and an understanding of switching/routing behavior
- Exposure to lab-based validation and bring-up of new silicon hardware
- Comfort working in Linux-based environments for embedded systems development
