Job Details
Role: Senior Geoscientist
Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months (With possible extension)
Pay Range: $65 to $75/Hour
Responsibilities:
- Performs work as directed by senior staff that involves conventional hydrogeological procedures and coordinates input from specialties such as geology, hydrology, and engineering for hydrogeologic data interpretation and to develop conceptual models.
- Apply numerical ground-water flow modeling using commercial or public domain computer codes in support of engineering design, safety analysis studies, and environmental studies.
- Participate in field investigations including site characterization, well installation, aquifer tests, and water sampling.
- Assist senior staff in preparing technical reports, calculations and presentations.
- Reviews geotechnical subcontractor's reports and prepares comments and recommendations.
- Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
- Grade 26: M.S. in hydrogeology, engineering geology, or other related geosciences discipline, and 8 years progressive related experience, or Ph.D. degree in the same disciplines and 6 years of progressive related experience.
- Proficiency with geology software such as MODFLOW, Aqtesolv, Leapfrog, OpenGround, etc..
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and other appropriate computer applications to facilitate the compilation and analysis of data collection activities.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel and remain at jobsite for an extended time.
- Curiosity, initiative, sound judgment, and knowledge of the fields of geology and engineering.
- Knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
