Job Details

Title: Senior IT Business Analyst

Location: Remote (Quarterly travel to Jackson, MS or Houston, TX)

Duration: Full Time/Long Term

ComTec is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Business Analyst with extensive experience working in a Waterfall SDLC environment and proficient in developing business cases for IT projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive business cases, including cost-benefit analyses, risk assessments, and return-on-investment (ROI) evaluations, to support informed IT project decision-making.
  • Present business case documents to senior leadership and facilitate discussions to obtain approvals.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and project managers to define project objectives and business requirements.
  • Lead business requirements gathering sessions, document functional and non-functional requirements, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Document use cases, business/system/functional requirements, requirements traceability matrix, and test cases.
  • Analyze current business processes and document AS-IS business process flows.
  • Creates process flowcharts, diagrams, and other related documentation. Creates technical workflows using different modelling techniques.
  • Work with business stakeholders in developing TO-BE business process flows.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, and Use Cases.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining test scenarios, reviewing test cases, and validating business requirements.
  • Ensure projects adhere to governance policies, compliance standards, and IT best practices.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Assist in developing business cases, project plans, communication plans, RACI, and estimates.
  • Develop test plans and test cases.
  • Assist in change management and project communications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience working in an enterprise-level IT environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst in a Waterfall SDLC environment.
  • Proven experience in developing business cases for IT projects, including financial analysis and ROI calculations.
  • Excellent skills in process modelling, requirements documentation, and business process improvement.
  • Must have experience developing business cases for IT projects and presenting them to senior leadership.
  • 7+ years' experience with elicitation and documentation of business and functional requirements.
  • Understanding of and experience in IT project management methodologies, requirements management, quality assurance, and IT processes.
  • Experience developing AS-IS and TO-BE business process flows.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes, the ability to identify, capture, and translate business requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the preparation, selection, organization, and presentation of information concisely and coherently.
  • Proficiency in using BA tools such as Microsoft Visio, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Good to have: CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar Business Analysis certification.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and coordination skills
