Senior Infrastructure Engineer

LaSalle Network has partnered with a mid-size insurance company based in downtown Chicago that is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the team. The team is a small, tight-knit group and this role will be a jack of all trades that oversees both the infrastructure as well as network and server security. This role is hybrid and requires the ability to be on-site in Chicago 3 times per week.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities:

• Designing and updating network infrastructure


• Oversee firewall, patches and vulnerabilities


• Manage computer network components including VPN, LAN/WAN, routers, physical hardware and cloud technologies


• Monitor systems to enhance network performance


• Address and resolve networking issues and communicate them to team members and management


• Maintain and troubleshoot hardware, including peripheral devices


• Coordinate upgrades and maintenance to minimize business disruptions


• Provide guidance and training on network systems to colleagues


• Collaborate with vendors to acquire necessary equipment for phones, networks and systems


• Streamline disaster recovery operations


• Stay informed on security and networking best practices to offer optimal solutions and safeguard company systems

Senior Infrastructure Engineer Requirements:

• Proficiency in firewall and security measures, network monitoring and administration


• Strong understanding of networking design, server and storage management


• Familiarity with programming languages like Power Shell, Windows Scripting and/or Basic


• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Azure


• Ability to manage virtual and remote access, including VPN and RDP


• Familiarity with macOS, iOS and Windows operating systems


• Proficiency with Office 365 and experience with SQL server preferred


• Aptitude for disaster recovery planning and testing


• Preferred expertise in mobile device management


• Self-motivated and able to thrive in a dynamic environment


• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members


• Strong problem-solving abilities and business acumen


• Experience working with C-Level executives

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field


• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles


• Preferred certifications include CompTIA Server+, CCNA and CISSP
