The Opportunity

This role offers a strategic leadership opportunity within Abbott Nutrition's Global Procurement team, responsible for managing over $250MM in production materials across 60+ suppliers. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the position focuses on ensuring supply continuity, driving cost efficiencies, and leading ingredient innovation in collaboration with commercial and R&D teams. The successful candidate will lead a small team and play a key role in shaping procurement strategies that directly impact Abbott's global operations and profitability.

What You'll Work On
  • Develop and execute global supply strategies using market and supplier data analysis
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients at or below market cost
  • Optimize raw material sourcing and procurement processes
  • Support manufacturing operations across North America, Europe, Asia, and TPMs
  • Standardize contracts across global commodities
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships worldwide
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, QA, and other internal teams on supplier selection and management
  • Manage financial plans and purchasing commitments up to $250MM
  • Lead cost savings and avoidance initiatives across the division
  • Coach and mentor cross-functional teams to align with Abbott Nutrition's vision
  • Monitor and improve performance metrics such as PPV, supplier quality, inventory levels, and delivery performance
  • Assess market trends and risks to support strategic decision-making


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a technical field
  • 4-6 years of combined experience in operations or supply chain management
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing and/or sourcing experience
  • 2-4 years of staff management and development experience
  • Strong skills in supplier negotiations, financial analysis, planning, and leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for infant formula and nutritionals


Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA
  • Experience in purchasing, sourcing, or trading commodities
  • APICS certification
  • International experience or willingness to travel globally
