Job Details

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Northampton, MA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update network documentation, architecture diagrams, and installation records.

  • Plan, design, and implement new network installations and capacity upgrades.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of network issues.

  • Collaborate with vendors and partner agencies to resolve network-related problems.

  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure optimal performance across the environment.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to team members.

  • Research and analyze issues to support problem resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with security standards and participate in audit remediation (e.g., PCI).

  • Travel to multiple facilities for deployment and maintenance of network equipment.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of enterprise-level network engineering experience.

  • 5+ years in a senior/lead role managing complex networking projects.

  • Strong expertise with routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, and BGP.

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routing/switching, load balancers (Citrix NetScaler), VPN, Wi-Fi, and security technologies.

  • Proficiency with Access Control Lists, firewalls (Checkpoint, Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto), and enterprise wireless systems.

  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Cisco Catalyst Center).

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, WANs, and network segmentation.

  • Knowledge of AWS network architecture.

  • Understanding of T1, T3, SONET, DWDM, OC, and Metro Ethernet technologies.

  • Experience with VoIP and QoS.

  • Ability to create and maintain detailed Visio network diagrams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Adaptability to changing priorities and operational demands.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • Cisco certifications required: CCNA, CCNP (or CCIE preferred).
