Job Description:
Apex Systems is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer for a local client. The position is a 12 mo. Contract position that requires candidates to sit onsite in Charlotte, NC 4x per week (w/ 1 day remote). Candidates are required to have a strong understanding of firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco and F5) including experience designing solutions to utilize in the event of a security breach.

Day to Day Responsibilities/project specifics:
We are seeking a versatile and forward-thinking Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Resilience team. This role is designed for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys working with internal customers to design and implement solutions to be utilized in the event of a cyber attack. This team is seeking a networking engineer to maintain the health of all firewalls and network equipment while also implementing new solutions. Duties will include ensuring all patching and versions are up to date, and looking for/identifying threats, which is a continuous process. These firewalls and networks are set up in the client's national data centers, but there is a need for expansion of these services to smaller, more regional data centers as the team seeks to expand their footprint. The expansion will involve working with other internal networking teams to device/architect a plan for placing devices that connect to this team's protected space. Once a plan is agreed upon to get regional data centers up to the national standard, this person will be responsible for execution of the design. This is a 12+ month contract with goals of eventual conversion if the proof of concept is substantiated.
