Senior Power BI Developer

ILS is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (BI Developer) to support our direct federal contract in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize SQL/Query tools to extract and update data
• Utilize Oracle Application Developer to develop low code data-based applications
• Using data reporting and data visualization tools including Power BI, Tableau, or Oracle Analytics Server
• Ability to work directly with end users to understand the business problem and provide solutions
• Communicate with the companywide project teams and develop trust with business users
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Design, build and deploy Power BI and Oracle Data Visualization solutions (e.g. Dashboard/reporting tools)
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms (Power BI/Database)
• Perform unit testing and troubleshooting
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
• Performance tuning of queries
• Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
• Develop and update technical documentation

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in Oracle SQL Developer (or any related SQL service) including SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Experience in creating basic visualizations with direction from the project team
• Ability to quickly grasp business domain knowledge and apply them to solve business problems
• Experience with Agile or Jira development methodology
• Proven experience as a BI Developer with Power BI
• Experience on PowerBI Desktop, Tableau, or related data visualization
• Experience in setting up the PowerBI Report Server, publishing reports/dashboards, and distributing/consuming them across devices
• Experience in setting up semantic layer that can be utilized by PowerBI
• Experience in developing PowerBI data reporting and visualization 
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple teams to gather, document requirement & develop approach/solution
• Knowledge of applying visualization techniques and User Experience design
