Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Power System Planning Engineer to support renewable and transmission projects within the Engineering & Construction (E&C) organization. This role is responsible for advanced power system analysis, steady-state and dynamic modeling, and generation/transmission planning for Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and standalone transmission/substation projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with interconnection studies, reliability standards, and coordination with ISOs/RTOs and utilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for generation interconnection processes and operational requirements
  • Coordinate with ISOs, utilities, transmission owners, and regulatory agencies
  • Develop, validate, and maintain PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD models for renewable projects
  • Perform and review steady-state, dynamic, short-circuit, voltage, and stability analyses
  • Track and interpret evolving interconnection and reliability requirements
  • Assess compliance with IBR standards (IEEE 2800, Grid-Forming IBR)
  • Ensure adherence to regional modeling and reliability standards
  • Support disturbance analysis, reliability, and economic studies
  • Develop analytical or automation tools to improve system reliability and efficiency
  • Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and lead stakeholder meetings
  • Support implementation of engineering standards, policies, and training

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong understanding of power system fundamentals: power flow, stability, voltage regulation, reactive power
  • Experience with ISO/RTO interconnection procedures across the U.S.
  • Hands-on experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, GE PSLF, Aspen, TSAT
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with renewable energy and BESS interconnections
  • Knowledge of regional reliability standards and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to develop custom tools or scripts for power system analysis
