MANTECH seeks a motivated and experienced Senior Principal Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
In this role, you will support mission-critical operations by designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance cloud environments using modern tools and best practices.

In this role, you will support mission-critical operations by designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance cloud environments using modern tools and best practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting Azure cloud services and infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure cloud environments
- Implementing Azure security best practices and managing Windows and Linux servers
- Leveraging Azure data services and containerization technologies alongside DevOps tools including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and GitHub
- Writing and maintaining automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI
- Configuring network security groups (NSGs) and application gateways to protect resources
- Managing Azure compute, storage, networking, and database services
- Applying security best practices and compliance standards while collaborating effectively across teams to solve complex technical challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of additional IT experience in lieu of a degree
- 7+ years of experience in cloud computing with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure
- Experience designing and deploying Azure-based solutions and working with DevOps practices and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Git
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible, or BICEP
- Familiarity with cloud template technologies such as Azure Resource Manager, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, and architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
- Experience automating workflows using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON, or Ansible
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification required (e.g., CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+, CND, SSCP) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with other cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Understanding of Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)-199, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, NIST SP 800-37, and DoD Cloud Security Requirements Guide
- Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Solutions Expert in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or communicate with coworkers and customers
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
