The BLPF Development team is responsible for designing, deploying, and enhancing custom applications which support Bloomberg's Finance and CFO community. We focus on creating and supporting financial web-based and Office Add-In applications, infrastructure automation, and external systems integration. We also provide development services for Python Stella automations and Bloomberg Terminal applications.
The Role
As a Software Engineer in the Systems Engineering Team you will be expected to use your software development skills to work in close collaboration with business users to create and enhance custom applications which eliminate inefficiencies or provide brilliant solutions to seemingly intractable problems. The BLPF Custom Software Development Team builds web/desktop applications, Office Add-Ins, and back-end system automation tools that underpin financial processes critical to the successful ongoing operation of Bloomberg. Because of the scope of reach of our applications, we work with numerous existing systems and their supporting teams to leverage existing Bloomberg infrastructure and tools resulting in bespoke solutions to solve business problems.
You will have the opportunity to work on a team of other software engineers as we build solutions which free up the CFO users to maximize their impact on making Bloomberg successful. At the same time, you will be exposed to a wide array of technologies and systems that you can leverage and gain an understanding of to increase your contribution to the overall performance of Bloomberg.

You will need to have:
- 4+ years experience programming in C#, including .NET Core
- 3+ years experience in full web-stack development (i.e. JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field of study or equivalent work experience
- Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle
- Experience creating and working with web and windows services (e.g. Active Directory)
- Experience with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (e.g. firewall, proxy traversal)
We would love to see:
- Significant experience with SQL syntax and stored procedure development
- Experience programming in Python
- Experience of working within an IT organization
- Familiarity with Active Directory
