Senior Staff Accountant

Join our team and be part of a dynamic organization dedicated to managing financial resources to support education, research, and innovation. We're looking for a skilled Senior Staff Accountant to support our Accounts Receivable team.

Compensation: 33-40/hr, depending on experience

Responsibilities:
  • Post daily transactions for general and sponsored accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile high-volume accounts and participate in monthly close activities.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding payments, returns, and account discrepancies, escalating issues as needed.
  • Process and review cash receipt returns across departments and business units.
  • Analyze AR data and trends to support audit requests and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain and update operational dashboards to track performance and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Support resolution of outstanding items including unidentified payments and wire transfer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline workflows and ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to special projects and assist in developing training materials related to AR procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and financial best practices.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated sponsored research administration experience including financial audit of sponsored research awards, reviewing and recording journal entries
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise accounting systems
  • Bachelor's degree in an accounting, finance, or related business area or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial operations including accounting and/or research administration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
