Job Description Summary
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you'll work on the cutting edge of cloud technology as you scope and lead complex technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iterate and scale. You will collaborate closely with architects and technical product managers to translate overarching system architecture and product requirements into cohesive, high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will lead the design and development of cloud-native services that deliver computing capabilities-including servers, databases, storage, networking, analytics, and intelligence-over the Internet and at the edge. You'll collaborate across teams to build high-performance, scalable, and secure systems that meet customer needs and drive innovation.

Your leadership will emphasize quality, test-driven development, and adherence to sound software engineering practices, using industry best practices to maintain a high standard of excellence across all team deliverables. Additionally, you will leverage Generative AI (Gen AI) to drive agile development and releases.

This role is located in Bellevue, WA working on a hybrid basis, with 3 days/week in the office.

Job Description

Roles / Responsibilities
  • Design and implement distributed systems and services across public cloud and edge environments, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams. Lead design and code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Work with product managers, architects, and infrastructure teams to translate customer requirements into robust cloud-based solutionsCloud-Native Development
  • Build services using modern cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda, ECS, S3, DynamoDB, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Platform Cloud Run), emphasizing microservice, containerization, and event-driven architectures.
  • Engineer systems for low latency, high throughput, and efficient resource utilization. Use profiling, benchmarking, and telemetry to continuously improve service performance.
  • Implement secure coding practices, integrate with IAM and encryption services, and design for fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
  • AI-Driven Development
    Leverage Generative AI tools to accelerate development cycles, improve code quality, and enhance developer productivity.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor' s Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • 10 years of experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:
  • Ability to Analyze, design, and develop a software solution roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state of the business.
  • Working knowledge of technology choices and related cost implications; Experience with complex solution configurations.
  • Knowledgeable of full range of solution catalog within a business unit and able to discuss overall solution at depth.
  • Experience sustaining operational stability through various life cycle phases (planning, implementation, steady state, de-commissioning)
  • AWS Expert, certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Design Patterns, Java programming language and Unit Testing frameworks
  • Hands-on experience in utilizing Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Integration and Data) and Spring boot
  • Expert on Kafka and/or related messaging/ frameworks, ActiveMQ
  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST), EJBs
  • SQL, Hibernate on Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Containers - Docker/Kubernetes, Helm

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
