Job Description:

Apex Systems is looking to fill a Sr. Windows Systems Administrator position in Pompano Beach, FL. The hiring manager is looking for someone with Windows Servers, VMware and some basic networking experience. If you are interested in this position, please apply directly.

Position: Sr. Windows Systems Administrator

Rate: 50-55/hr on W2

Length: Ongoing Contract

Location: Pompano Beach, FL

Onsite Requirements: 5 days a week onsite at one of the locations

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Windows Systems Administrator to manage and support our enterprise IT infrastructure. This role requires hands-on experience with VMware environments, Windows servers, storage systems, Active Directory (AD), and, ideally but not required, automation tools to streamline operations and improve system efficiency.

Day to Day:

Supporting VMWare environment, servers, storage and AD objects

Looking for a team player who has an ability to work with team

Basic understanding of networking - will be working with the networking team

MUST Haves:

7 years of experience

Working with various hardware, server, storage, group policy management, etc.

Some amount of networking experience

Ability to innovate and be a forward thinker - will be key member of the systems team

NICE TO HAVES:

Any Azure cloud migration experience

Experience with AI or Automation - They are trying to make their jobs easier and anything they can automate would love to have that experience. With AI it is very new to them and central office is doing a lot

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments across physical and virtual platforms
  • Manage and optimize VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot storage systems and ensure data integrity and availability
  • Create, modify, and manage Active Directory objects including users, groups, OUs, and GPOs
  • Implement and maintain system monitoring, patching, and backup solutions
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell or other tools to improve operational workflows
  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and performance
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents as needed


Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in Windows systems administration in a mid-to-large enterprise environment
  • Strong proficiency with VMware vSphere and related virtualization technologies
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE)
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell preferred)
  • Knowledge of system security best practices and patch management
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • [Preferred] Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, VCP, or equivalent
