About the Role
  • We are looking for a skilled Data Architect to lead the design, assessment, and evolution of our data architecture with a strong focus on E-commerce application developmentcustomer data profile capture, and advanced data modeling. This role will focus on evaluating our current analytics environment, defining measurement frameworks, identifying gaps, and developing strategic roadmaps to enhance data quality, governance, and customer-centric insights. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in E-commerce platforms, AWS data services, customer data integration, and collaboration across technical and business teams to drive scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design a scalable data architecture capable of handling high-velocity data streams and batch processing with precision and efficiency, specifically tailored for E-commerce environments.
    • Build and maintain reusable frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment, with a focus on capturing and modeling customer profiles and behavioral data.
    • Real-Time & Batch Data Processing
      • Architect and implement real-time streaming pipelines to capture customer events from:
        • Client SDKs for Web and Mobile E-commerce applications
        • Server-side events tracking key customer interactions (e.g., browsing, transactions, cart activity)
      • Integrate batch data from surveys, delivery partners, CRM systems, and external data feeds to enrich customer profiles.
    • Current State Assessment:
      • Thoroughly document the existing analytics and E-commerce data environment, including data sources, tools, integrations, and data flows to establish a comprehensive baseline.
    • Measurement Framework:
      • Define clear and consistent measurement methodologies for key E-commerce and customer analytics terms to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and comparability across the organization.
    • Gap Analysis:
      • Identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement in data architecture, tagging strategies, customer data capture, and governance practices.
    • Strategic Roadmap Development:
      • Create a practical, actionable roadmap prioritizing initiatives that enhance data quality, streamline processes, improve customer data modeling, and support data-driven decision-making.
    • Data Architecture Design and Implementation:
      • Design and implement robust data architectures using AWS data services tailored to business and technical requirements, with emphasis on customer-centric data models.
    • Storage Solutions:
      • Architect scalable storage solutions to accommodate diverse E-commerce data types, including customer profiles, transaction histories, and product catalogs, with appropriate retention policies.
    • Database Management:
      • Develop and manage both SQL and NoSQL database solutions to support various application needs, including customer data management and personalization engines.
    • Big Data Analytics Platforms:
      • Build and optimize platforms for real-time and batch data processing to enable advanced analytics capabilities such as customer segmentation, recommendation systems, and predictive modeling.
    • Data Visualization:
      • Create interactive dashboards and visualizations that empower stakeholders with actionable insights into customer behavior, sales trends, and operational metrics.
    • Data Processing and Integration:
      • Design and automate ETL workflows and data integration pipelines to ensure efficient data movement and transformation, focusing on integrating customer data from multiple touchpoints.
    • Data Migration:
      • Lead initiatives to migrate on-premises or legacy E-commerce and customer data systems to AWS cloud environments using best practices and AWS migration tools.
    • Collaboration:
      • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational goals, customer experience strategies, and compliance requirements.
    • Governance and Security:
      • Establish frameworks for data governance, security, and performance monitoring across all data services, ensuring customer data privacy and regulatory compliance.
    • Technical Leadership:
      • Provide clear technical direction to development teams, ensuring platform scalability, reliability, and performance in support of E-commerce applications.
    • Architectural Governance:
      • Contribute to architectural governance processes, conduct solution reviews, and define KPIs to measure technical delivery and operational maturity.
    Required Skills and Experience
    • Proven experience in assessing and documenting complex analytics environments, especially within E-commerce contexts.
    • Strong background in defining measurement frameworks and conducting gap analyses focused on customer data and E-commerce metrics.
    • Expertise in designing scalable data architectures using AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, EMR, Glue) with emphasis on customer data modeling.
    • Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design and management supporting customer profiles and transactional data.
    • Proficiency in building big data platforms for real-time and batch processing tailored to E-commerce analytics.
    • Skilled in data visualization tools and techniques to represent customer insights and business KPIs.
    • Hands-on experience with data migration to AWS cloud, including customer and transactional data.
    • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks, particularly related to customer data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, and engineering.
    • Ability to provide technical leadership and guide development teams in E-commerce data solutions.
    • Experience with architectural governance and defining operational KPIs.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Big Data Specialty).
    • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or AWS MWAA.
    • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and SQL for automation and data manipulation.
    • Experience with customer data platforms (CDPs), CRM integration, or personalization engines is a plus.
