Description The Human Engineering Software team works closely with many teams around Apple to build powerful multi-platform tools, with a particular focus on user studies for new Apple products. We are seeking a world-class Solutions Architect who is passionate about designing and implementing comprehensive data workflows for sensitive user research operations. In this role, you will architect end-to-end solutions for user research data collection, storage, and analysis while ensuring the highest standards of compliance, security, and operational efficiency. You will take a holistic view of study workflows, balancing technical requirements with usability and regulatory constraints.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $146,300 and $291,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience architecting large-scale data systems handling sensitive or regulated datasets
- Strong background in designing end-to-end data workflows (collection, storage, processing, analysis)
- Experience with Unix-based systems and command line interfaces
- Demonstrated expertise in system architecture including cloud services, encryption, network security, and distributed storage
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience managing cross-functional technical projects and stakeholder alignment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with systems thinking approach
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with user research methodologies and data collection tools
- Background in healthcare, research, or other regulated industries handling sensitive data
- Experience with data privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and research data formats
- Experience with containerization, microservices, and modern DevOps practices
