To be considered for this rewarding role, you must hold a valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate for the assigned grade level(s) and/or disability category(ies), along with an IVP-Fingerprint Clearance Card. Key Responsibilities:- Lesson Plan Development: Craft engaging lesson plans each week that cater to diverse student needs, outline assessment procedures, and specify curriculum standards.
- Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Lead and guide paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Implementation of PBIS Program: Manage the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, track behavior points, and maintain communication with parents/guardians.
- Classroom Management: Foster a safe and engaging classroom atmosphere, adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with various disabilities.
- IEP Meetings and Documentation: Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, ensuring timely updates and documentation in collaboration with the school district.
- Collaboration: Work alongside staff and external agencies to provide the best educational experience for each student.
- Instructional Planning: Design learning experiences based on data, conducting assessments at least three times a year.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities, including bi-monthly teacher meetings and monthly all-staff trainings.
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor s degree required; Master s in Special Education is highly recommended. Valid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, Level 2 acceptable).
- Experience: 2-5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs, including experience in special day classes.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in standard software applications.
- Certifications & Clearances: DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required. Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification preferred.
- Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
- Activity: Frequent tasks involving reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions in moderate to high noise levels, with or without assistive devices.
