Please note: To be considered for this role, candidates must hold a valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate appropriate to the assigned grade level(s) and/or disability category(ies) and an IVP-Fingerprint Clearance Card. Key Responsibilities:- Lesson Plan Development: Craft engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs, collaborating with general education teachers as necessary. Your plans will adapt the general curriculum to meet IEP requirements.
- Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Lead and guide paraprofessionals in your classroom, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
- Implementation of PBIS Program: Manage the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, tracking behavior points and maintaining communication with parents/guardians.
- Classroom Management: Create a safe and engaging classroom atmosphere, implementing behavior plans and adapting teaching strategies for students with various disabilities.
- IEP Meetings and Documentation: Attend IEP meetings, write updates, and maintain thorough documentation to ensure compliance with district and state standards.
- Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with staff and outside agencies to provide the best educational experience for each student.
- Assistive Technology: Support the use of assistive technology, enhancing learning opportunities for your students.
- Instructional Planning: Design learning experiences based on data, conducting assessments in line with IEP goals.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge, with encouragement to pursue additional training outside of district offerings.
- Required Education & Credentials:
- Arizona Department of Education Standard Professional Special Education Teaching Certificate (e.g., K-12 Mild/Mod, Cross Cat., etc.) or Special Education Endorsement.
- Bachelor s degree required; Master s degree in Special Education strongly recommended.
- Required Clearances:
- DOJ/FBI Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- TB Clearance
- Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs, including curriculum and behavior interventions.
- Proficient in written and verbal English, with strong professional communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Computer-literate with knowledge of standard software applications and the internet.
- Certifications & Clearances: DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required.
- Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
- Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
