Position Overview:

The Sr. Manager of Retail Software will be responsible for managing the mobile retail software and cloud technology team. The core of what this team delivers are on device retail experiences that are deployed in retail locations across the US (and globally). The leader will utilize their skills to lead a dynamic and high performing team to deliver projects, advance technology capabilities within retail and drive continuous innovation and channels solutions that are retail and customer ready. Individual to cross-train and cross-collaborate to build a stronger talent pool to manage flagship retail experience projects with efficiency. Be a trend software developer explorer and find new digital technology solutions that fit well within the team's vision.

The Sr. Manager of Retail Software will manage daily/weekly requests and to help drive the future strategy related to global retail demo projects, connected experiences, system/data architecture strategy and integrations and other customer facing systems. The leader will hold recurring meetings with direct/indirect reports, and collaborate closely with Samsung's creative, systems, and operations teams. Individual will partner with all teams and functions within SEA Mobile Retail, Product, Marketing, Samsung HQ and retail/carrier customers to lead the technical aspects and strategy for long term innovation and growth. Ensures standard operating procedures and project guidelines are in place and updated.

This role reports to the Director of Software Tech. 0%-10% travel required.

Role and Responsibilities

Technology
  • Lead a small team responsible for delivering technology and applications that are key launch elements for all products entering the market within retail, on a global scale for Samsung
  • Drive innovation in retail projects and manage them successfully
  • Enhance the software platforms through modular design, configurable frameworks and innovation. Drive operational efficiencies to do more with less
  • Design and build capabilities to facilitate A/B testing of experiences in like markets
  • Implement automated regression testing tools and methodology
  • Identify cross-team opportunities to streamline systems to drive toward unified data, reporting and analytics
  • Assess channel environments and build software solutions applicable to retail that alleviate barriers to a successful customer experience
  • Understanding mobile technology and how devices interact (Bluetooth/BLE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, etc.).
  • Establish and lead engineering project priorities, proof of concepts and delivery of retail technology


Data
  • Establish data tagging, organization and access for all delivered retail experiences
  • Partner with Business insights team to support the creation of dashboards and reporting capabilities across a multitude of data capture points across all retail channels, both in store and online
  • Facilitate surveys and reporting metrics and dashboards to understand performance of digital experience executions.
  • Conduct data related deep dive sessions to assist any troubleshooting activities


Project Management
  • Lead teams managing on-going retail demo projects and enable more opportunities across new product/category portfolios
  • Drive/influence internal teams, including: enterprise architecture, engineering, channel teams, carrier teams, both internal and external
  • Manage the cloud based platforms and enhance functionality to drive forward innovation and additional capabilities across devices at retail communicating to the Samsung network
  • Remove project roadblocks and ensure all software/applications for projects are delivered on time, bug-free
  • Document, validate, sign-off, and share out simplified instructions to field teams and channel partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to meet with executives internal/external to sell in ideas and provide status updates.
  • Key lead between Retail Design Center and HQ on RMS software and technology requirements
  • Map engineering resources to various retail projects
  • Holds recurring meetings with direct/indirect reports
  • Manage technology agencies to align them around projects and delivery of digital retail experiences
  • Able to evaluate, select and manage technical agencies to work on retail demo projects


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of directly related experience is required. Master's Degree with 6+ years of directly related experience is preferred
  • 8+ years of strong Technical project management experience required
  • 8+ years of data analytics, reporting expertise
  • 8+ years of experience with cloud based platforms and programs
  • 2+ years of team leadership, driving software programs to market
  • 6+ years of involvement in consumer facing projects enable with technology
  • Deep experience with Android and Windows OS platforms, including on-device applications
  • Strong understanding of retail and how technology enables the customer shopping journey
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and IoT projects is plus
  • Prior experience in a telecommunications environment preferred
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Standard Office Suite
  • Detail oriented, can manage projects start-finish
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, mostly in-office environments
  • Strong knowledge of design principles and brand strategies
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to meet with executives internal/external to sell in ideas and provide status updates
  • High energy, strong work ethic, fun, like working with a team, creating group success


Necessary Skills and Attributes:

Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all assigned levels with the customer and within and outside the company. Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects. Read and interpret detailed and complex customer requirements. Demonstrated competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external personnel at various levels, especially in the sales and marketing, logistical, or financial areas of clients, prospects, and SEA. Work independently and in a team environment in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames. Demonstrated excellence in time management skills and follow up to ensure meeting on time deliverables. The ability to accept tasks and problems/situations that differ and require creativity to search for solutions among learned consequences. Only broad and general guidelines exist for solving problems. The ability to utilize implied knowledge of task alternatives and to make spontaneous decisions using past experience and the guidance of successful experiences of others. Interact with all levels within the organization and has frequent external contacts.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Work is generally performed in an office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between more than 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable work utilizing high visual acuity / detail, numeric / character distinction and moderate hand / finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC's, printers, copiers, faxes and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
