About the Role

We are seeking a Sr Principal Engineer to lead machining innovation and process improvement across a high-impact production environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional who thrives in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.

You'll be responsible for driving strategic technical initiatives, mentoring teams, and resolving complex manufacturing challenges. The position offers a balanced work-life schedule, including a 9/80 workweek with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic technical direction on complex engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to integrate machining processes.
  • Lead development and optimization of machining processes, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians; influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to machining, equipment, and product quality.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for machining operations and new technologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for process analysis and historical records.
  • Drive capital expenditure projects for equipment upgrades and factory setup.
  • Support quoting efforts including ROMs and BOEs.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining processes, equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX for design and machining programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in project planning and execution.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and industry standards.
  • Ability to plan and manage production schedules.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Project).
  • Experience in capital project management and equipment implementation.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in defense or government contracting.
  • Ability to program multi-head configurations.
  • 10+ years in machining and manufacturing environments.
  • Expertise in programming complex 3, 4, and 5-axis mills and multi-axis lathes.
  • Experience with writing/editing Post Processors.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management experience
