We are seeking a strong and passionate software engineer with experience in building products leveraging AI/ML. You will be responsible for creating scalable, reliable, manageable solutions that deliver on requirements at Uber by bringing together platforms leveraging AI at Uber. You will be owning customer facing products that impact the support experience of millions of customers. Your responsibility will include identifying required changes across Uber's engineering ecosystem, collaborating with engineering teams, driving consensus, implementing extensible, maintainable changes required to build state-of-the-art support experiences.

We are looking for someone who has passion for designing and driving large projects from inception to production. The right person will work with stakeholders, product managers, scientists, partner engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into a platform feature. Must be a great communicator, team player, and a technical powerhouse.

1. As a software engineer, you'll engage in product and engineering jam sessions conceptualizing features and mapping them into a technical design. You will build software that will ship to millions of users, or thousands of fellow engineers growing multiple apps that directly impact the ease of our users' lives.
2. Work on Uber's most complex applications by designing, implementing, and unit testing the backend application code.
3. Help teams with defining an architecture that would scale and also encourage best practices.
4. Create frameworks and abstractions that are reliable, reusable and avoid surprising outcomes.
5. Promote and demonstrate problem-specific expertise and execution excellence in delivering results

\\-\\-\\-\\- Basic Qualifications ----

1. 6+ years of experience in software engineering
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
3. Scalable system architecture design
4. Production-quality services, deployment, monitoring, and reliability.
5. Microservice designs, gRPC or REST API development

\\-\\-\\-\\- Preferred Qualifications ----

01. Experience with conversational Voice AI.
02. Experience in applying AI-powered tools and frameworks in line with modern industry practices and innovation trends.
03. Ability to decompose complex business problems into clean, extensible, performant services and systems
04. Logging, monitoring, performance troubleshooting and tuning experience
05. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
06. Comfortable in navigating multi-disciplinary teams with respect
07. Focus on code quality in terms of coverage, code reviews
08. Excellent technical writing skills to communicate design, requirements, flows, architecture
09. Fluent in one of these programming languages: Golang, Scala, Java,
10. Comfortable in one of these scripting languages: Javascript, python
11. Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
12. Experience with version control systems such as Git

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year.
