Title: Sr VMware Horizon engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA, Whitehouse Station, NJ, or Jersey City, NJ (Must be local)
Fully onsite- potential for hybrid
Duration: 6+ Months Contract to hire
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation:
Architect, design, and deploy VMware Horizon solutions to meet business requirements.
Configure and optimize VMware Horizon components, including Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM).
Integrate VMware Horizon with other enterprise systems, such as Active Directory, storage, and networking.
Administration and Maintenance:
Manage and maintain the VMware Horizon environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to VMware Horizon components.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
Technical Expertise:
Serve as the subject matter expert for VMware Horizon and related technologies.
Provide guidance and mentorship to IT teams on best practices for VDI deployment and management.
Stay updated on the latest VMware Horizon features, updates, and industry trends.
Conduct Product and vendor analysis to ensure Chubb s alignment to industry standards and trends.
Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide Level 2/3 support for complex issues related to VMware Horizon and VDI environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure user satisfaction.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
Documentation and Training:
Create and maintain detailed documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure the VMware Horizon environment adheres to organizational security policies and compliance requirements.
Implement security best practices for VDI, including multi-factor authentication and data encryption.
Performance Optimization:
Analyze and optimize the performance of the VMware Horizon environment to ensure a seamless user experience.
Conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments to support future growth. Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with VMware Horizon.
Expertise in VMware Horizon components, including Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager.
Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere and ESXi.
Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
Experience with networking concepts, including VLANs, firewalls, and load balancers.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification in Desktop and Mobility or Data Center Virtualization.
Experience with cloud-based VDI solutions, such as VMware Horizon Cloud on Azure or AWS.
Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Knowledge of ITIL processes and frameworks. Key Competencies:
