Senior Backend Automation Engineer
Location: Hybrid 2-3 days a week onsite - must be located near one of the following:

Position Summary
Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Backend Automation Engineer to support backend and mainframe test automation for a large financial services client. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining automation scripts, integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring compliance with audit standards. The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, working within an established QA framework.

Position Summary
Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Backend Automation Engineer to support backend and mainframe test automation for a large financial services client. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining automation scripts, integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring compliance with audit standards. The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, working within an established QA framework.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend automation scripts using Automation Anywhere and IBM HATS CLI.
- Integrate validation into Robot Framework using metadata-driven models.
- Build reusable components for SSH and mainframe interaction.
- Embed test suites into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Implement tagging and logging to support SOX, PCI, and FFIEC compliance.
- Validate data flows across SOR, Domains, and Read Store using structured and synthetic test data.
- Automate test data provisioning and cleanup processes.
- Participate in QA reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in backend or mainframe automation.
- Proficiency with Automation Anywhere, IBM HATS, or similar tools.
- Strong scripting skills (Java, CLI).
- Experience with Robot Framework, YAML/JSON test suite generation.
- CI/CD integration experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with test data tools like TDP and synthetic data provisioning.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOX, PCI, FFIEC).
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
- Exposure to observability tools like Allure and ReportPortal.
- Familiarity with cross-vendor execution models and governance practices.
