About the Role

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about creating the foundational network infrastructure and automation systems to support Uber's autonomous vehicle partnerships throughout the US and around the world. You will join a collaborative, fast-paced, and highly technical team that stands at the forefront of Uber's Autonomous Vehicle strategy, which focuses on designing, building, operating, and automating this mission-critical infrastructure. About the Team

Uber has announced 20 Autonomous Vehicle partnerships with companies across the world to lead the way in Autonomous mobility, delivery, and freight services. To support these new capabilities of the Uber Platform, a group of highly focused engineers is taking on these unique and dynamic challenges. You will be joining a group of engineers with years of autonomous vehicle infrastructure experience who have been designing, building, and operating infrastructure across multiple business units at Uber scale.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

\\-\\-\\-\\- What the Candidate Will Do ----

1. Develop novel solutions for physical network infrastructure deployments in unique operating environments
2. Develop automation and software tools to drive infrastructure efficiency at scale
3. Drive efficiency across all lifecycle areas of infrastructure ( design, deploy, operate, iterate )
4. Operational network support for autonomous vehicle platforms, end users, IoT devices, infrastructure components, and participation in on-call rotations.
5. Establish observability & performance metrics for client experience and define SLI/SLOs
6. Partner with 3rd party Autonomous Vehicle companies to develop next-gen connectivity and data offload solutions to meet a dynamic operational landscape.

\\-\\-\\-\\- Basic Qualifications ----

1. 5+ years of relevant experience in designing, building, and/or operating network infrastructure.
2. 3+ years of network automation and/or network observability systems design & operation.

\\-\\-\\-\\- Preferred Qualifications ----

1. You are passionate about leveraging software & AI innovations to automate network management, improve network observability, and remediate problems
2. Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
3. Experience designing, deploying, and optimizing LAN, WAN, WiFi technologies across various vendor platforms.
4. A relentless desire to build each network better than the last. Treat networking, operational efficiency, and automation as sciences with room for artful breakthroughs
5. Great interpersonal skills, deep technical ability, and open-mindedness to discuss various technical approaches to drive consensus across stakeholders.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.
