Title: Sr. Business Analyst Location: Austin, TX Work Mode: Hybrid 1-2 days a week onsite Interview Mode: MS Teams and/or Inperson
The Business Analyst works on multiple projects that support the mission of the agency to improve outcomes for Texas students, with a primary focus on the early childhood integrated data system project. This position performs advanced, senior-level business analysis work and user experience (UX) design to ensure a positive and productive end user experience.
The Business Analyst will ensure design decisions are grounded in user research and adhere to agency-wide design standards and industry best practices. This individual will partner with the product team and other key stakeholders on design solutions, serving as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow.
This role participates throughout the entire software development life cycle (SDLC). After establishing the requirements baseline, the focus shifts toward managing the requirements specification and verifying fulfillment of all requirements, including enhancements post-implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Elicit requirements from customers through interviews and translate them into well-written system requirements.
Partner with the product team and stakeholders to design solutions grounded in UX research and best practices.
Develop user stories and use cases that align with business analysis best practices.
Design mockups and wireframes that meet UX design standards.
Facilitate effective communication between business stakeholders and the software development team.
Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, ensuring requirements are met and verified.
Manage requirements documentation and track fulfillment, including post-implementation enhancements.
Apply business process re-engineering and software process flow improvements to enhance project outcomes.
Required Experience:
8 years of experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements.
8 years of experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs).
8 years of experience in business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement.
8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices.
8 years of experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices.
5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills.
5 years of demonstrated strong writing and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
3 years of documented work experience with the requirements management software "Modern Requirements."
3 years of documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira."
2 years of documented experience working for or closely with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or another state or local education agency.
1 year of documented work experience with the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program.
