Sr. Enterprise Cloud Architect
Location: Owings Mills, MD (Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 6 months (strong potential for extension)
Our client, a leading global financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Sr. Cloud Architect to join their team. This role will play a key part in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions, leading integration efforts, and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide standards.
Position Overview
As an Enterprise Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing cloud architectures that support complex business initiatives across the organization. You'll establish system information requirements, lead integration strategies, and provide technical direction to teams. This role requires deep AWS expertise, strong experience with APIs and microservices, and the ability to architect scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.

This role requires deep AWS expertise, strong experience with APIs and microservices, and the ability to architect scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee cloud architecture to support enterprise-wide systems and initiatives.
- Ensure compatibility and compliance with organizational IT standards and best practices.
- Lead integration strategies across applications, platforms, and external systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and development teams.
- Analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and develop corrective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align technology with business needs.
- Drive architectural planning and recommend technical solutions for current and future projects
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in IT with a strong focus on enterprise cloud architecture.
- Expertise in AWS architecture (hands-on design and implementation).
- Strong experience with API design, microservices, and integration architecture.
- Proven track record of providing technical leadership and mentoring.
- Experience in evaluating vendors, presenting architectural recommendations, and managing technical planning efforts.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
- Knowledge of DevOps tools and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms (Kafka, etc.)
- Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-visibility cloud initiatives.
- Hybrid flexibility with onsite collaboration in Owings Mills, MD.
- Competitive hourly rate with potential for contract extension.
