Schedule: Hybrid - 4 days onsite per week
About the Role
Charter is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Data Strategist) to lead the evolution of our data ecosystem. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong hands-on engineering skills who can assess current data infrastructure, recommend scalable solutions, and implement modern data ingestion and analytics capabilities.
You'll play a key role in shaping our data platform strategy, optimizing ingestion pipelines, and enabling advanced reporting and analytics across the organization.

You'll play a key role in shaping our data platform strategy, optimizing ingestion pipelines, and enabling advanced reporting and analytics across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and modernize the current data architecture, including SQL Server and MongoDB environments.
- Recommend and implement scalable data platform solutions and ingestion tools.
- Design and optimize data pipelines to support high-volume, real-time data feeds.
- Integrate diverse data sources including Splunk, SMTP, S3, and REST APIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting needs through Tableau and internal portals like SOAR.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data quality, performance, and accessibility.
Required Skills & Experience
- Database Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, and Kafka. Ability to evaluate and recommend modern data platforms.
- ETL/Data Ingestion: Proficiency with NiFi or similar tools. Experience integrating APIs, JSON, and unstructured data sources.
- Data Strategy: Proven ability to assess data ecosystems and recommend scalable, future-ready solutions.
- Reporting & Visualization: Familiarity with Tableau and performance reporting (e.g., application metrics, KPIs, agile metrics).
- Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex data challenges using data-driven reasoning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Familiarity with streaming data architectures and real-time analytics.
- Exposure to enterprise reporting environments and performance monitoring tools.
