Job Description

About the Role:

Identify, plan and direct the maintenance preventive maintenance and upkeep of LA Plant site manufacturing and facilities equipment with an emphasis on electronics, controls, electrical distribution and motors. Repair, overhaul and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on plant equipment, electrical circuit and electrical controls to include but not limited to, electrical distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives, and electrical control systems.

Weekend Swing Shift

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday - 12hrs

Shift Start: 10AM Thursday

Shift End: 10PM Sunday

How you will Contribute:

  • Perform breakdown preventive maintenance of critical plant equipment on a regular basis, to include, but not limited to, electrical distribution, MCCs, and electrical control systems as responsibility assigned to Electrical Facilities Engineering in both cGMP and non-GMP areas.
  • Responsible for repairing and or replacement of the electrical distribution circuits, electrical controls, emergency power circuits, and electrical equipment as assigned and their components.
  • Write and/or revise Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures as needed.
  • You will be responsible for a multi-craft responsibilities within the department .
  • Ability to understand, review, and analyze mechanical drawings for accuracy. Perform drawings update as required.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair critical equipment including but not limited to: MCCs, electrical distribution systems, electrical controls, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, motor starters, relay ladder logic, standby generators, UPS systems, and various manufacturing equipment. Requires familiarity with generally accepted building and electrical codes in compliance with LA City and Takeda EHS, including but not limited to: NEC, NFPA 70, UMC, etc.
  • Support site engineering projects including but not limited to: equipment installation, commissioning, and validation for process and supporting equipment.
  • Crosstrain new employees and teammates.
  • Follow and comply with EPA and OSHA regulations as well as with Takeda Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and with Current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) policies.
  • Ensures personal training plan execution and compliance.
  • Attend the required training and meetings.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • High school diploma or GED. 4+ years of related work experience or AA degree or higher and 2+ years related work experience
  • Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or commensurate combination of technical education and experience is required. with a minimum of 16 credits with the emphasis on the following courses:
    • Electrical Wiring (required)
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (required)
    • Industrial Electronics and Controls (or equivalent)
  • NOTE: Without Journeyman skilled craft training specified above, then must complete at least 16 credits of the courses detailed above within 2 years of hiring.
  • Trained and knowledgeable on NFPA 70(National Electrical Code)

Important Considerations:

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position.
