Sr. Power BI Consultant

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Business Intelligence (BI) with expertise in the capital markets / financial domain to join our dynamic team. The primary focus of this role is to design, develop, and maintain robust BI solutions that cater to the data analysis and reporting needs of our capital markets operations.

Responsibilities will encompass the creation of impactful dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, enhancing the perspectives of our front office and traders. This will provide lucid insights into trading activities, risk evaluations, and capital allocation. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of financial concepts, market data, risk metrics, and the intricacies of Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) and capital management.

The role necessitates expertise in effectively and efficiently communicating with technical and business operations teams. Designing and developing Power BI dashboards and visualizations for front office and trader utilization demands advanced skills in data analysis, Power BI, and financial concepts. This position involves crafting interactive and insightful dashboards that present pertinent data related to trading activities, risk assessments, and capital allocation.

The candidate should exhibit a strong grasp of financial instruments, market data, risk metrics, and key concepts pertinent to RWA (Risk-Weighted Assets) and capital management. This expertise empowers them to transform raw data into meaningful visualizations that greatly facilitate decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications: Collaborate closely with front office and traders to gather requirements and translate them into meaningful data visualizations that aid in risk assessment and decision-making..
  • Design and develop BI solutions: Design and develop BI solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders, using a variety of BI technologies and tools.
  • Deploy and maintain BI solutions: Deploy and maintain BI solutions, ensuring that they are reliable and accessible to users.
  • Analyze data: Analyze data to identify trends and patterns, and to generate insights that can be used to make informed decisions. Transform raw data into insightful visual representations, highlighting key trends, performance metrics, and risk exposures. Utilize expertise in financial instruments, market data, and risk metrics to provide clarity in the visualizations and dashboards.
  • Develop visualizations and reports: Design and develop interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI that effectively communicate complex financial data to trading teams and decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with teams: Collaborate with teams of data analysts, business users, and IT professionals to ensure that BI solutions are successful.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience developing visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop
  • Proficiency in Power BI and advanced skills in data visualization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, including market data, risk metrics, and capital management.
  • Experience working with complex financial datasets and transforming them into insightful visualizations.
  • Familiarity with Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) concepts and their application in financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively translate technical information into clear, actionable
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets concepts, including trading activities, market data, risk management, and financial instruments.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration from diverse sources.
  • Solid SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and optimization.
  • Previous experience in the financial industry or within a trading environment is highly desirable.
