Job Details

The AAA Identity team at Datadog is central to our commitment to deliver a secure, reliable, and frictionless service experience for all our users. We are responsible for the critical infrastructure that manages user authentication, including login systems, tenancy isolation, identity federation, account safety features, and session management. Our efforts are fundamental in upholding the trust that users place in Datadog, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of their data and services.

As a Staff Engineer in the AAA Identity team you will play a pivotal role in architecting Datadog's core data strategy, helping us to deliver efficient and reliable user experiences as we continue to grow our footprint across products and regions. You should be comfortable leading a new cross-team effort, understanding our customer needs, and designing a system that can be performant at scale.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You'll Do:
  • Architect core data storage, access, and lifecycle management, enabling dozens of dependent engineering teams to deliver amazing customer experiences.
  • Support an internal API platform for the Application Infrastructure organization, enabling other platform teams to deliver new features quickly and reliably
  • Collaborate with your team, product management, and security teams to align our work with company-wide objectives.
  • Stay hands-on with our systems day-to-day, going deep to solve our technical challenges scalably while focusing on the end-to-end user experience.
  • Identify potential system risks and design solutions to address them, often in collaboration with many other engineering teams.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term planning and roadmap development.

Who You Are:
  • You have led cross-team technical initiatives in a product engineering environment, with quick iteration cycles, for 20+ engineers.
  • You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where customer experience, performance, reliability, and accuracy are all first-order concerns.
  • You have a data-oriented mindset and care deeply about designing and building valuable and maintainable products and architectures.
  • You have significant backend experience and have architected, built, and maintained products that operate at high scale.
  • You rely heavily on your excellent written technical communication skills to persuade technical and non-technical stakeholders for high-investment projects.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
