Structural Fitters Job Summary
Our client, a leader in the defense and shipbuilding industry, is seeking experienced Shipfitters/Structural Fitters to join their team in Wisconsin. Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficiency through a hands-on welding test prior to placement. Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficiency through a hands-on welding test prior to placement. This role involves working on defense-related shipyard projects that require precision, safety, and strict adherence to quality standards.
Structural Fitters Responsibilities
- Fit, fabricate, and install structural components in shipbuilding projects.
- Perform FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) using .052 wire on heavy plate steel.
- Execute 3F (vertical) and 4F (overhead) fillet welds on 3/8" plate.
- Operate grinders and related tools safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Work within tight tolerances while maintaining production and quality requirements.
- Adhere to all DoD, client, and shipyard safety and compliance standards.
Structural Fitters Position Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years' experience as a Shipfitter, Structural Fitter, or related trade.
- Proficiency with FCAW welding processes.
- Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with grinder operation and basic metalworking tools.
- Must meet DoD testing standards as outlined above.
- U.S. Citizenship required (for defense contract eligibility).
