Work Year: Year Round (260 Days / 8 Hours)
Reports to: Enterprise Operations Manager
Direct Reports: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Summary
Operating under the general supervision of the Enterprise Operations Manager, the Systems Administrator supports the district s technology infrastructure by performing provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and related technical systems. This role collaborates with senior staff and project teams to ensure systems align with district objectives and instructional needs.

Job Responsibility Description
  1. System Provisioning and Maintenance
    1. Analyze district needs to recommend and procure appropriate hardware and software solutions.
    2. Configure servers and systems to meet operational and instructional objectives.
    3. Deploy virtualization technologies to optimize resource utilization and system performance.
    4. Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of new systems.
    5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies to align district infrastructure with best practices.

  1. Hardware Replacement and Upgrades
    1. Perform hardware replacement and upgrades across various systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
    2. Manage and maintain diverse operating system configurations, such as Windows, Linux, Unix, and VMware environments.
    3. Install and configure servers, hardware, peripherals, services, directories, storage, and other systems to meet district requirements.
    4. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures, ensuring systems adhere to standards and best practices.
    5. Perform system updates, including operating system patches, software upgrades, and configuration changes to support infrastructure and operational needs.

  1. System Monitoring and Advanced Troubleshooting
    1. Resolve escalated technical issues promptly using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
    2. Conduct daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, software, and network resources.
    3. Analyze system logs and performance data to identify and resolve bottlenecks, failures and other operational challenges.
    4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve multi-platform issues that impact system performance and operations.

  1. Cybersecurity Management
    1. Manage and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity framework to protect district systems and data.
    2. Implement and oversee security measures, including regular risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and incident response plans.
    3. Provide Tier III support for escalated cybersecurity issues, ensuring effective resolution of complex problems.
    4. Perform regular security monitoring to identify, address, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities or intrusion attempts.

  1. Documentation and Disaster Recovery
    1. Develop and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and infrastructure diagrams to ensure business continuity.
    2. Coordinate with stakeholders to implement and test disaster recovery plans, ensuring systems align with recovery objectives.
    3. Assist in creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks.

  1. Collaboration, Support, and Project Work
    1. Collaborate on technology projects, contributing to planning, design, testing, and deployment phases.
    2. Assist in implementing and improving systems that support instructional and operational goals.
    3. Support senior staff and project teams during the initiation and planning phases of projects, ensuring smooth transitions to production environments.
    4. Manage user accounts efficiently across platforms such as Active Directory and Google Workspace.
    5. Mentor and provide training to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  1. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related field
  • Preference given to three years experience operating in and/or systems administration for a technology department
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, including Scrum, is a plus.

Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

  • Criminal Background Check required for hire
  • Valid Colorado driver s license or identification required
  • Preference for Microsoft & applicable Networking certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Operating knowledge of various softwares and applications including Google, Microsoft, and Linus
  • Knowledge of and experience with Layer 3 routing and VLAN protocols.
  • Networking knowledge of switches, routers, hubs, servers, cables, racks, firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, latency, VoIP, QoS within 6 months after hire.
  • Ability to implement security best practices, including risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
  • Familiar with backup and restore processes for enterprise systems
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support in a professional and approachable manner

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adjust to frequent interruptions
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills to maintain accurate records and forms
  • Problem solving skills to analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions with minimal supervision
  • Well-developed ability to work independently as needed with minimal direction and/or supervision
  • Proficiency in server and network configurations, virtualization technologies, and system monitoring tools.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and compliance standards
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, project management, and analytical skills
