Overview

Our client is seeking a senior-level Systems Engineer to lead and maintain security, compliance, and infrastructure efforts across a cloud-based enterprise platform. This role blends technical security operations, policy development, audit facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud-native environments, security frameworks, and DevSecOps principles.

Role Summary

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise systems and data. This includes leading SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 compliance efforts, developing and enforcing security policies, coordinating incident response and disaster recovery, and supporting client-facing security assessments. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to work across multiple teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 audit preparation and execution
  • Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and controls
  • Coordinate incident response planning and execution
  • Manage business continuity and disaster recovery testing
  • Champion DevSecOps principles and embed security into system design
  • Respond to client security assessments and negotiate contract language
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, application development, data, HR, and legal teams
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation planning
  • Support critical alerts and develop incident response strategies
  • Stay current with emerging security technologies and trends
  • Create and maintain operational documentation
  • Participate in security industry groups and conferences
  • Provide on-call support for emergency security issues

Expertise

  • 6+ years in Information Security or related IT roles
  • Strong background in cloud-based security (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 frameworks
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, IAM, and incident response
  • Vendor management and client-facing security experience
  • Software development and network forensics knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Certifications preferred: CISSP, AWS Security Specialty
  • Insurance or financial services experience is a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
