Overview

The System Engineer II role is an individual contributor within the Citizen Development and Automation team and part of the Digital Workplace Technology organization. The System Engineer will be responsible for designing and delivering solutions in support of the bank's 20,000+ citizen developers, as well as the maintenance, support and improvement of these innovative technologies. The System Engineer will test and manage features and functionality, troubleshooting complex technical issues while addressing end user requests for assistance. The System Engineer must balance strong technical knowledge with sound business acumen to satisfy our internal customers and fulfill our technology strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication and collaboration skills and is well versed in Microsoft collaboration and citizen development technologies. Strong working knowledge of Power Platform and Power BI infrastructure, and experience with Dataverse, COE, and SharePoint is preferred.

The position is remote, however occasional travel to FCB Hub Locations will be required.

Responsibilities

Technical Support : Minimizes end user impacts throughout the testing of features and functionality within Power Platform and Power BI Pro infrastructure. Handles escalations. Diagnoses and resolves advanced problems. Responsible for administration, communication, and documentation throughout technical support activities. Assists in designing, implementing, and maintaining processes related to security, governance, risk, and compliance.

System Testing: Coordinates testing to determine function, results, stability, performance, and capacity consumption. Verifies the successful implementation of features, functionality, and supportability. Performs a variety of planning and technical activities to ensure platform availability.

System Enhancement: Works to continuously monitor and improve systems, processes, and related technical infrastructure for Power Platform and Power BI Pro. Improves technical effectiveness by automating tasks and utilizing programming or scripting to perform support duties.

Technical Expertise: Maintains a strong knowledge base through ongoing research and education. Ensures consistency is maintained across supported systems. Communicates effective and clear technical information to associates, vendor support personnel, and internal clients. Assists in managing special or advanced projects through the production of task lists, checklists, and other tools to monitor project production.

Responsibilities:
  • POWER BI PRO INFRASTRUCTURE - Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment of Power BI Pro features and functionality adhering to our governed framework utilizing secure workspaces, service accounts with connector policies, and security through active directory groups. Coordinates system upgrades, patches, and configurations for connectivity as needed utilizing on-premise data gateways. Maintains knowledge on new or upcoming feature releases and continuously builds for onboarding them in the enterprise.
  • POWER PLATFORM INFRASTRUCTURE - Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment of Power Platform features and functionality adhering to our governed framework utilizing managed environments, solution promotion through pipelines, connections policies, environment grouping settings, and security through active directory groups. Coordinates system upgrades, patches, and configurations for connectivity as needed utilizing on-premise data gateways. Maintains knowledge on new or upcoming feature releases and continuously builds for onboarding them in the enterprise.
  • CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT - Contributes to the design, build, test and deployment of configurations as part of a configuration management system to efficiently distribute features and functionality within a governed, secure, managed framework.
  • TEAM PLAYER - Acts as a team player supporting peers, department management and business unit leadership to fulfill operational service levels, department initiatives and project deliverables. Believe in and adopt a "70% agreement, 100% commitment" attitude.
  • DOCUMENTATION - Contributes to high quality roadmaps, strategies, architectural designs and project plans to publicize the work of the department and develop the knowledge of others. Can build and document procedures to sustain a large financial organization.
  • AGILE WORK METHODS - Organizes work and continuous improvement ideas through effective Agile iterative work planning and execution. Able to adjust to changing priorities on the fly. Maintains a keen eye on opportunities to improve user experience, efficiency, regulatory compliance, or cost savings.
  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT - Learns and follows the banks change and release management processes.
  • RISK MANAGEMENT - Understands and applies a risk-based approach to work prioritization and delivery. Can assess technology solutions for risk through multiple lenses and articulate effectively with risk partners and leadership.
  • SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT - Act as an expert resource for multiple DWT technology stack components. Stays abreast of industry trends and technology advancements and assesses their value to the bank.
  • TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT - Act as a tier 3 support resource and assist lower-level support groups with resolving complex system issues. Engage and involve solution providers' advance support as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Systems engineer and systems programmer

Skills/Experience:
  • 3+ years working with power platform and power bi infrastructure and platform management
  • 2+ years working with an engineering team in the financial industry
  • 3+ years in an Agile delivery environment
  • 1+ years using Jira, Confluence or Azure DevOps
  • Familiarity with the FFIEC Architecture, Infrastructure, and Operations Book and applying regulatory requirements to technology operations.
  • Advanced product knowledge of Digital Workplace Technology products and services

The base pay for this position is generally between $98,000 and $150,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
