Job Description

If you're interested in making a significant impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a School setting in Texas, this position might be what you are looking for!


Responsibilities:

  • Teach Braille, assistive technology, and independent living skills
  • Adapt educational materials and ensure curriculum accessibility
  • Conduct assessments and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with staff to implement accommodation and train them in supporting visually impaired students
  • Communicate with parents on progress and connect them with resources
  • Provide accessible materials and teach students to use assistive tools


Qualifications:

  • Active Texas teacher certification/license
  • Texas Special Education credentials for TVI
  • Certification in Braille
  • Experience in Assistive Technology
  • Ability to work effectively in a School setting
  • Strong communication, time management, and clinical decision-making skills


Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and patient-centered care
