Business Analyst - required onsite (hybrid) in Fairfax, VA
Overview
ILS Inc. is seeking a Business Analyst to support a federal IT modernization initiative. The
successful candidate will gather and translate business requirements into user stories and
UI mockups, working closely with technical teams to deliver functional, user-centered
solutions. This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence two days per week at our Fairfax,
VA headquarters..
MUST BE LOCAL TO DC METRO AREA (hybrid support - 2 days in ILS HQ office, located in
Fairfax, VA 22033).
Responsibilities
Elicit, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements from business
stakeholders.
Translate requirements into clear and actionable user stories, process flows, and
acceptance criteria.
Design wireframes and UI mockups to support application development using tools like
Balsamiq, Figma, Adobe XD, or Axure.
Collaborate with UX designers, developers, testers, and product owners to refine and
validate designs.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily
standups.
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by creating test scenarios, coordinating test
activities, and validating results.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure traceability of requirements
throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting software development projects.
Demonstrated ability to create UI mockups and wireframes that convey business and
design intent.
Proficiency with Agile development practices and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and
SharePoint.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas
visually and interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Understanding of application architecture, workflows, and APIs.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple workstreams.
Preferred Skills
Experience on federal government IT projects.
Familiarity with AWS, cloud-native application requirements, or digital service
modernization.
Knowledge of UML, BPMN, or prototyping tools.
Involvement in Section 508 compliance reviews or user-centered design processes.
