Candidate must be Local to New York.

Job Summary:

The Technical Data Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise data solutions. This role provides technical leadership for data architecture, data engineering, and data quality initiatives, ensuring that data is accurate, secure, and accessible to support analytics, reporting, and business decision-making.

The Technical Data Lead works closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, data engineers, and data analysts to define data strategies, establish standards, and lead enterprise-wide data initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 2+ years in a lead/mentoring capacity.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT development.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google Cloud Platform BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks).
  • Proficiency with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, dbt).
  • Knowledge of APIs, streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis), and modern data architecture patterns.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with data governance tools (Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and MDM practices.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines and AI/ML operationalization.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Certifications such as DAMA CDMP, Google Professional Data Engineer, or AWS Certified Data Analytics.
