Job Details

TRN Systems Inc is seeking a seasoned professional to act as a technical project manager for a system modernization project for a State Agency in New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience managing large-scale public sector IT projects, particularly those involving Salesforce, agile methodologies, and modern cloud platforms like AWS and MuleSoft. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for driving project delivery, coordinating technical and non-technical stakeholders, and ensuring success across all phases of this high-visibility initiative. The ideal candidate is a driver someone proactive, confident, and technically fluent who can lead from both the strategic and tactical levels. This individual will understand the intersection of IT systems and business processes, bridge communication gaps, and actively resolve issues to keep modernization efforts moving forward. Experience with state or federal government projects is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the full lifecycle of information technology scope for the project, including planning,
execution, monitoring, and closeout.
Serve as the primary liaison between IT, and business stakeholders, the implementation vendor, and other state agencies that may be impacted.
Coordinate the work of state information technology teams, state business teams, and vendor
teams.
Lead project planning, scheduling and tracking.
Oversee project risks and issues, escalating where needed to protect outcomes and timelines.
Review and validate the vendor s project plan, schedule, staffing, and approach to ensure
alignment with State objectives.
Schedule and facilitate project status meetings, produce status reports, and maintain
documentation in designated tools.
Deliver regular updates to State executive stakeholders, including high-level briefings and steering
committee presentations.
Support project governance structures and knowledge transfer plans.
Ensure that QA and oversight functions are performed in alignment with state expectations.
Qualifications
8+ years of IT project management experience, preferably in government modernization or
enterprise transformation projects.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with both technical and non-technical
stakeholders.
Strong grasp of IT infrastructure, systems integration, data governance, and change management.

  • Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively to senior executives and project teams.
    Demonstrated success managing COTS/SaaS implementations and integrated cloud platforms (e.g., Salesforce, AWS).
    Experience with Agile project management, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and JIRA usage.
