Job Title: Senior Telecom Project Manager
Location: Southern California Edison Service Territory (On-site Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $70/hr. to $80/hr. hourly . Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
Position Summary
Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking a seasoned Senior Telecom Project Manager with a strong background in telecom engineering to lead and manage deployment projects across its extensive private telecommunications infrastructure. This role will support the Grid Services Department within the Information Technology Business Unit, focusing on the design, engineering, and lifecycle management of telecom systems including TDM, IP/MPLS, SONET, and microwave technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management for telecom infrastructure deployments, including SCENet2 (Nokia 7705) installations supporting Field Area Network (FAN) connectivity
- Oversee engineering and design activities for inter-location fiber optic cables, transport systems, radio systems, and data networking components.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, work orders, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with internal SCE teams and external contractors to ensure timely execution of project milestones.
- Conduct power load analysis, network topology creation, fiber strand reservations, and port allocations in TBS.
- Present projects for DRC approval and manage job package issuance and closeout.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health regulations.
- Provide monthly status reports and performance reviews.
- Maintain clear communication with SCE IT N&TS contacts and proactively resolve project issues.
Required Qualifications
- Telecom Engineering Expertise: Proven experience with TDM, IP/MPLS, SONET, microwave systems, and Nokia SCENet2 equipment.
- Project Management: Strong background in managing telecom infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.
- Technical Tools: Familiarity with SCE systems such as TBS, DWP (Remedy/Helix), WM (Work Manager), SAP, and SDW (Service Design Worksheet).
- Documentation & Reporting: Ability to produce network diagrams, circuit layouts, alarm point assignments, and detailed engineering documentation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of EH&S standards and ability to enforce PPE and safety protocols on-site.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with cross-functional teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with utility companies or large-scale telecom infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with SCE s operational environment and SmartSourcing contract frameworks.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
Work Schedule & Location
- Hybrid role with mandatory on-site presence at SCE facilities every Tuesday and Wednesday.
