Job Description
The Trailer Mechanic performs required inspections and maintenance (corrective and preventative ) on trailers and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the fleet.
\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on all trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment in accordance with all federal, state, and local legal and regulatory agencies (includes all state-required inspections and frequencies) \n
- Conduct all levels of preventive maintenance functions, such as regular servicing of trailers. Including trailer repairs and equipment inspections. \n
- Electrical diagnostics, repair, and replacement. \n
- Utilize the company s maintenance system to create/maintain/complete work orders and vehicle maintenance records. \n
- Lead and/or assist with the physical parts purchasing, inventory, receiving, and proper charge out of parts to work orders \n
- Performs general cleaning and repair duties \n
Requirements:
\n- \n
- 4 years of experience in fleet trailer maintenance and repair (up to 2 years can be credited for technical training/schooling) \n
- Knowledge and understanding of FMCSRs and DOT Compliance \n
- Air brake certification \n
- Working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers \n
- The technician must provide all hand tools (1/2 drive or under) necessary to perform maintenance. The company will provide diagnostic equipment, major shop tools, and a secure toolbox. \n
- ASE certification preferred (not required) \n
- Current valid driver's license (CDL Class A preferred but not required) \n
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more \n
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions \n
- High school diploma or equivalent required \n
