I - BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:



The UEWR System Administrator has the overall technical responsibility for managing and maintaining the UEWR Prime Mission Equipment (PME) and Simulator-Tester (S-T) computer and associated network equipment. The System Administrator will also act as a mentor for the computer and radar operations staff, and will help to develop and refine operational procedures or checklists.

II - PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Overall technical lead for UEWR computer networking hardware and software equipment.
  2. Mentor and train members of the operations staff in associated computer technologies.
  3. Support the local command by providing detailed explanations of complex system issues.
  4. Support the system while on site or when outside of normal working hours.
  5. Support alternate sites and provide cross-feed to help mitigate and understand new issues.
  6. Develop and implement backup strategies and system restoration procedures.
  7. Add, remove, and maintain user accounts.
  8. Develop and maintain procedures to be used by site computer operations personnel.
  9. Install mission software upgrades and provide constructive feedback to developers.
  10. Maintain system configuration with respect to UEWR applications: Mission ApplicationSoftware (MAS), Signal Processing Software (SPS), Receiver-Exciter Software (RES) andData Reduction.
  11. Monitor disk storage capacities and maintain adequate disk storage availability for all usersand applications.
  12. Implement security procedures and monitor system usage.
  13. Conducts reviews of system security information and supports all cybersecurity initiatives.
  14. Acknowledge and resolve problems with databases.



III - SUPERVISION:
  • Responsibilities for Work of Others - None.
  • Supervision Received, Works under the general supervision of the Communications-Electronics Manager.


IV - WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Physical Tasks, Exerts limited physical energy. May have to handle 20-30 pound loads on occasion.
  • Working Conditions, Normal office environment and server room environment. May work extended hours or weekends



Minimum Qualifications:



Desired qualifications include a BS in Computer Science with 8 years of experience and an MS in Information Technology (or equivalent) with 4 years of experience in the following areas:
  • 8 or more years of experience as an SA using UNIX and/or LINUX command-line operatingsystems
  • Silicon Graphics (SGI) Ultraviolet Series Servers multi-CPU scalable architecture
  • Dell workstation architecture
  • Protogate Freeway communication servers
  • Encrypted Secure GPS Receivers
  • Serial to Ethernet Terminal Servers
  • Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) architecture to include RAIDs, 0, 1, 10, 5,and 6
  • Highly available file systems
  • LANs, WANs, TCP/IP, SNMP and networking with emphasis on Cisco Catalyst switches.
  • Cisco Firewall administration
  • Software licensing, C++, software build processes, Perl, Python, or shell scripting
  • Database administration including backups/restoral, account maintenance, and SQL queries
  • MATLAB, MATE, and Satellite Tool Kit (STK)
  • Phased Array Radar principles
  • Project management and software deployment
  • Cybersecurity concepts


Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must have CompTIA Security+
  • A LINUX certification not required but highly desired.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires ship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance
